Susanne Dahlin<p>When people ask me what surprised me most about Australia, I usually answer the safety. </p><p>I tell them about my mate who keeps his motorbikes outside with the keys in the ignition, helmet on the saddle, no gate and no locks. The house isn't even locked and the tradies working next door leaves heavy machinery out in the open over night. This is in the middle of Brisbane, next door to a university with lots of strangers coming and going all the time.
