Charles Sheard<p>Here's a very niche question:</p><p>Seeking a <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/Local" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Local</span></a> with knowledge of <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/History" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>History</span></a> / <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/Genealogy" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Genealogy</span></a> of the <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/Kirkcudbright" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Kirkcudbright</span></a> area, which I believe was formerly known as <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/Kirkcudbrightshire" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Kirkcudbrightshire</span></a> </p><p>Particularly, I am interested in the prevalence of the name <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/Cavet" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Cavet</span></a> / <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/Cavett" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Cavett</span></a> (or alternate spellings) in the area during the late 17thC. I am trying to decide whether a hunch based upon limited data warrants full (and time-consuming) research. If anyone cares to chat, I'd much appreciate it.</p>
