Through multilingual Acterra events and workshops, Irivin educates community members about clean energy incentives and shares financial resources and opportunities offered by local government and energy providers to increase the adoption of electric vehicles. Upgrading appliances, buildings, and vehicles to those that operate on clean energy instead of fossil fuels is a meaningful way to invest in climate resilience and reduce emissions. Irvin shares, "At Acterra, we focus on local climate solutions. If we can change a community by reducing carbon emissions, it's part of the solution for the whole planet." When speaking about the "doom" we may feel about the climate crisis, something that helps Irvin feel more hopeful is the power of collective action to address climate change, which starts at the individual and community level before building momentum to deliver a much bigger impact."

"The San Francisco Bay Area – home to nine counties, more than 100 cities and towns, and over 7 million people – exemplifies climate leadership, environmental justice, and innovative renewable technologies. It is a model for how cities, residents, organizations, and businesses can work together to respond to the intensifying regional impacts of climate change, from heat waves and wildfires to flooding and rising sea levels. As a global hub of diversity, culture, and technology, the Bay Area has enormous economic, social, and political power to address climate change in ways that ripple across sectors and the world. The most obvious culprit would be 'greed' and 'capitalism'. But it's more complicated than that. And there's no political-economic alternative. Since the emergency is closely intertwined #ClimateJustice and #ClimateEquity no totalitarian or autocratic system will work [China makes big strides on the Climate part but misses on Equity and absolutely crashes on Justice]
Now for the video, it discusses #Capitalism as a cause for #ClimateChange:

"Climate change: is capitalism the problem?"
by Climate Adam [who is on sabbatical and Hazel Thayer is replacing him]

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kmoVMLbBB4U

And now for the reflective stuff. Economics is just as much about human behavior as it is about figures. The same goes for Politics, maybe even more.
Now what drives humanity so close to the abyss ? Economic capitalism is about supply and demand. And demand is created by advertisement. Any solution has to involve #Degrowth and #ProperPricing. So far the video.
The system CAN change ! [ I say that more out of conviction than by knowledge ]

Still what drives....
After all that thinking I came to some conclusions:

* it's never enough .
Humanity is never satisfied. The more 'evolved' it gets, the least it's satisfied with being and wants more. We are raised that way, not as much by our parents as by the system.

* there has to be a reward .
In Western civilizations [EU, US Can, Aus] an individual thinks he's entitled to a recompense for his actions. The reward always being goods or money. "What a good boy.. here some sweets" Your time for money; wages.
And of course the rewards must be as cheap as possible which means exploiting that what can't defend itself. Like the tree only becoming valuable when it is cut out of it's life. But it does feel good to muse about a 'Trekkie' world where money no longer exists and everyone is valued on merit.

* Free is good .
Economics states that when something can be gained without cost it is good, an opportunity. Where as physics teaches everything, always has a price. Whenever someone says it's for free, know that you're conned, exploited. Know that whenever you take something out, you disturb a balance and so you'll have to put something back.
Mining for raw materials is exploitation of the future of humanity. Exploitation of the planet that has fed humanity through it's existence. When a country decides to sell out it’s resources, it’l stay as poor as it was when it started. The profits always seem to disappear in pockets or in some pet projects.

* Money is worthless .
You can’t eat money, nor gold. Giving back has to be about something substancial, something to grow on.

* Life is endless, near eternal.
But it's name is not humanity. Not exclusively.

I, very much like and appreciate your input. Please reply.
Have you had these kinds of thoughts please share them !

On the video:
Quote by CA:
"Aug 1, 2024
Is capitalism the problem?
