She reminded me of when Cowichan RCMP were unable to stop a popup protest at the Ramada Inn hotel in Duncan, once we found out it was one of the main hotels hosting RCMP CIRG corporate mercenaries from 2021-2023. It's because RCMP exhausted staffing for ecocidal maniacs & there wasn't enough personnel to shut protest down quickly. They had to get Nanaimo & Campbell River RCMP to come down to shut down protest. Almost every civilian we talked to during the don't house corporate mercenaries protest weren't happy about our tax monies going to pay RCMP CIRG goons. River camp was the first resistance camp set up in 2020 & it ran for a year before final big raid. There are 2 very rough logging roads that lead up to untouched old growth forest tracts from these camps. River camp is also where people could go hike to see/visit with Grandmother & Grandfather cedars. After we were removed, industry started cutting more roads up into the untouched old growth tracts. Teal Jones logging company has since pulled out due to financial issues & everything is up in the air at this time. Temporary deferral was renewed this year for some tracts by this one particular area in the watershed. Still hoping for permanent protections as the elder trees are not included in this small deferral.</p><p>"My student documentary on the Fairy Creek/Ada'itsx old growth forest blockade 🌲 something of a collage, made with many hands and hearts. Lennett Anderson, “dehumanizing and tragic.” And the RCMP's history suggests we should be deeply skeptical that the proposed action plan will be even close to what is required to remedy these grave injustices.</p><p>In his 2019 report, written for the <a href="https://beige.party/tags/NovaScotia" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>NovaScotia</span></a> <a href="https://beige.party/tags/HumanRights" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>HumanRights</span></a> Commission, Dr. Scot Wortley defines street checks as any occasion in which civilians are stopped by <a href="https://beige.party/tags/police" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>police</span></a> and subjected to intrusive questions, and their personal information collected into a database. He confirmed what community members have known for years: people of African descent in the <a href="https://beige.party/tags/Halifax" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Halifax</span></a> region are almost six times more likely to face street checks.</p><p>It took five years after the release of this report for the RCMP to apologize for the harms caused. An hour after I took this vid clip - they flew above us again. I mooned them from landback resistance camp bridge.</p><p>The voluntary RCMP <a href="https://beige.party/tags/CIRG" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>CIRG</span></a> unit was created in 2017 as a strictly corporate mercenaries unit in BC. Approved by <a href="https://beige.party/tags/BCNDP" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>BCNDP</span></a> government. The same government who has given them multiple budget increases - millions of <a href="https://beige.party/tags/BCtaxpayers" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>BCtaxpayers</span></a> monies were used for that. Taxpayers monies were also used by <a href="https://beige.party/tags/BCgovernment" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>BCgovernment</span></a> on attempts to criminalize environmental activists in BC courts. Some of the court cases are still ongoing.</p><p>RCMP CIRG is a fully voluntary unit & RCMP who choose to join the unit get paid more than regular RCMP goons.
