It is a Bank Holiday but we will still be open.We will be open from 19:30 until 22:00 to give folks who may be interested in what we do, and what facilities we can provide, a chance to come and have a look round and meet some of our members. All are welcome. If you have ever wondered what we did to convert a derelict toilet into a hackspace, or what a "hackspace" is for that matter, come and have a look around. If you like to create, make or craft things why not pay us a visit? We have tools and equipment that cover a wide range of hobbies, crafts and technologies: woodwork, metalwork, electronics, laser cutting, vinyl cutting, sewing, 3D printing..... birkenhackWhat started off as trash in the street, then became disused trash in a friend's garden after they ran out of space for it, has become a shiny new 2D LED Matrix wall in Birkenhack after a good cleanup in the sink. Hitchin HackspaceWe have had something of a hiatus with our <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/RepairCafe" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#RepairCafe</a> events run by <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/PlasticFreeHitchin" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#PlasticFreeHitchin</a> and hosted at the <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/Hackspace" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Hackspace</a>. This was because of insurance issues... All sorted now. As there was a bit of a repair backlog our first event was invite only and held last Saturday with no pre publicity.We had 23 items come to our "mini" repair cafe and a success rate (items either repaired or advised on how to repair) of 80%. FinleyFor those wondering, these are two Ikea Uppsnofsad tubs with a Masterblend 3-part mix in 7 litres of water each. I bought the lettuce seedlings from my local garden centre and drilled the holes with a holesaw at my local <a href="https://dice.camp/tags/hackspace" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#hackspace</a>. The grow lights are by Wiaxulay from the bezos site (because there was nowhere else affordable).
