Serrano-sarja sijoittuu kaukaiseen tulevaisuuteen, ja sen tärkeimmät päähenkilöt ovat sotilasuran valinneita naisia. Sarjassa on mielestäni onnistuttu yhdistämään uskottavat henkilöhahmot "realistiselta tuntuvaan" avaruussotimiseen - usein jompikumpi puoli sakkaa, mutta Serrano-sarjassa ei.
