After joining the British military in 1785, Brock was sent to Canada in 1802 where he was promoted to colonel in 1805. In 1811 he assumed command over all troops in Upper Canada (now Ontario), and civil administration of the province as well. Doc Tell Me More Podcast<p>During the Battle of Saratoga in the American Revolutionary War, the US captured a cannon from the British, which they named the Burgoyne Cannon. </p><p>35 years later in the War of 1812, the British recaptured it during the fall of Detroit.
