Hmmmm, increasing taxes on Big Rock, looking to re-jig the payment codes for doctors, selling provincial barrels of home grown bitumen...methinks that the Government of Alberta are in big money troubles...

“The #Alberta government and Health Minister Adriana LaGrange, in a statement of defence filed Thursday, say former Alberta Health Services CEO Athana Mentzelopoulos was fired over her demonstrated inability to do the job”

"Today, we’re building a government that meets the moment. Canadians expect action — and that’s what this team will deliver. A smaller, experienced cabinet that moves faster, secures our economy, and protects Canada’s future."
- Mark Carney, newly sworn-in Prime Minister of Canada

Carney's new cabinet is down to 24 from Trudeau's 30 (a diverse cabinet with 50% women), which was already much smaller than Harper's cabinet of 40, which had included infamous names such as Jason Kenney, Tim Uppal, Candice Bergen, Erin O'Toole, and Pierre Poilievre; their definition of "small government".

As great as I think the Social Web/Fediverse is, it's not addictive by design. Either the timelines are set up with easy to understand algorithms based on time or users can adjust with their own settings.

"A motion put forward by the social media giants to have the lawsuit dismissed was denied by the court, which will allow the case to move to trial.

“It is arguable that an addictive product that interferes with the mental health and educational aspirations of students is a public nuisance that requires a remedy,” wrote Ontario Superior Court Justice Janet Leiper in her decision released Friday.

@aapis Yeah, I'm nearly 50 years old and I first got my Alberta hunter's license including firearms safety course in middle school, which means that could have been as early as 12 years old (predating PAL for adults, when it was FAC instead).

I did look up the current minor's license in Alberta, and the only difference I see is lifting adult supervision, but that's already lifted for the Federal minor's license, which states that minors can use any class of firearms WITHOUT the license as long as they are supervised at 12 years old, meaning they can be unsupervised with the license (see attached pic).

Public school support workers are *still* on strike…
A reminder to Edmontonians that support workers for EPSB are into their 9th week of strike action, stuck on the pickets instead of in schools because the GoA - which pulls the strings from behind the scenes using secret mandate letters - refuses to let the school board negotiate in good faith. Two school trustees have resigned in protest.

Fuck you LaGrange. Call 811 and ask if you should get a booster.

I doubt it is the city making this policy, rather it is most likely the fascist MAGA UCP made this neonazi policy and attack.

The city wouldn't accept a complaint about the library because prov funding also. The library doesn't seem prepared for handling complaints.

Get off the O&G train already, or: Why can’t Alberta see the writing on the wall?

If we can’t learn from reality - even when it repeatedly hits us over the head - we’ll end up like Newfoundland after the cod stocks collapsed.
