Swede’s Photographs<p>Pelican Squadron in Flight</p><p>These are brown pelicans (Pelecanus occidentalis) flying offshore at Holly Beach, Louisiana.</p><p>I've had several inquiries about how to get a print of some my photographs. This is a hobby for me, so I haven't been equipped to handle those requests. But I enjoy what I'm doing and want to share my photographs.</p><p>So, I set up an account and website with pixels. Swede’s Photographs<p>Sitting in the Morning Sun</p><p>In the water off the beach at Gulfport, Mississippi, there are several timber piles, reaching up out of the water a hundred meters or so offshore. Birds use them to rest on, particularly the birds who dive for their food. This silhouetted bird appears to be a brown pelican (Pelecanus occidentalis).</p><p>My photo gallery contains more that 900 images that I've chosen to share. Bill Gallagher Photography<p>Brown Pelican</p><p>I found this pelican down along the ocean in La Jolla in Southern California. The bird was nesting on the edge of a cliff overlooking the Pacific Ocean. He/she wasn't very far from where I was at but didn't seem to be worried about my presence. Swede’s Photographs<p>Over the Sea</p><p>I saw these brown pelicans (Pelecanus occidentalis) flying away from shore, over the Gulf of Mexico off of Holly Beach, Louisiana.</p><p>"The Brown Pelican is a comically elegant bird with an oversized bill, sinuous neck, and big, dark body. Squadrons glide above the surf along southern and western coasts, rising and falling in a graceful echo of the waves. They feed by plunge-diving from high up, using the force of impact to stun small fish before scooping them up. Now the bird is flying again, it will rise again to an altitude where it can continue hunting. I chose this photo because it shows the short pelican's tail.</p><p>"The Brown Pelican is a comically elegant bird with an oversized bill, sinuous neck, and big, dark body.
