anubis2814I find it funny that #krampus was a reaction to proestant villification of st Nicolas. St Nicolas was the patron saint if children with powers that made superman look wimpy and brought children present on his day Dec 6th. The prorestants stared vilifying saint as idolotry, and replaced St Nicolas with the Christ child (Krist Kringle) but a monstrous version of St Nicolas that punished naughty children as a way to remove him from the holiday. Catholics in the south actually liked the dynamic and created their own anti St Nick, krampus, which had nothing to do with the holiday prior. Other parts of Germany the catholic world developed theirs as well, which all started as a protest against percieved catholic idolotry
