Exterminating Angel Press published their spring issue this week: "Recipes for Disaster." They've included my little #reminiscence about my late Mom's -- er -- unusual approach to the culinary arts. It's called "Special."
@DavidMilley Love it, although I cringed a bit When I was little we were very poor. Our frequent nickname for dinner was "Mama's Mess." (She wasn't a bad cook, as I recall, but she used what she had!)
Thanks! I'm glad it rang a chord.
Mom was about the smartest, wisest person I've ever known. Generations of her students claimed her as their favorite professor. I still hear her voice; our conversations illuminate my stories.
But Mom's cooking was the subject of some wry discussion within the family. Definitely not her first priority in life.
