Trying to figure out the last stanza of this

In Waterloo station there are two walkways
You know, the ones you get in airports
Flat escalators that zoom you forwards
The first walkway goes out
The second walkway goes in

On the first walkway
I’m like a ground bird
I walk and glide
Walk and glide
The escalator and people are the wind and clouds
And I gracefully move through and around them
Like a mating display that births generations

Xercies

On the second walkway
I’m like a swamp creature
I lumber and trudge
Lumber and trudge
The escalator and people are the mud and rocks
And I depressingly move through and around them
Like an old man that has never found love
