This gem by Raymond Luczak landed in my inbox this morning, and brought me great joy.

@bottonowriter Casey - thank you - I had not seen this poem by Raymond Luczak. What an interesting dual poem. The process mirrors some of the difficulty I have with learning Lik'wala (Indigenous language of Vancouver Island). I like to write poetry about where I live - I can do it in English, but struggle to find the words in Lik'wala. It's a constant re-invention of words and terms.
@lacouvee Thank you for sharing your experience with the piece.
It's admirable that you persevere in learning the indigenous tongue of your native land.
Great to connect with you.
@bottonowriter good to connect with you too Casey. I now have the time for studying - I think learning Lik'wala will be an effort for the remainder of my life. Many people have dedicated decades to its revitalization.
