The scary part is when frustration builds around a specific issue. While discussing with @cedric about the challenges with CPE values, I used @misp as an example, since we are also the software vendor. CPEs are messy because their creation sources vary, different entities or individuals reporting vulnerabilities. So, it's not always the fault of the CNA or the vendors.

We don’t believe that creating a new standard will solve this issue. Instead, we’re working on vulnerability-lookup to extend and update CPE, making it simpler for both vendors and users.
