*Tipp Tipp tipp*
"Wagen 24, Platz....."
Mega gut.

Und es gibt Getränkehalter. #eurostar

Italian rail operator reveals a €1bn investment to tackle Eurostar's monopoly.

Italian railway group Ferrovie dello Stato (FS) has revealed plans to launch a high-speed rail service between Paris and London.

Set to be launched by 2029, the service will challenge Eurostar’s long-running monopoly on the route.

The project would be carried out in partnership with Spanish firm Evolyn.

Eurostar rivals are given the ‘green signal’ for cross-Channel trains: What could it mean for passengers?

For decades, Eurostar has been the only rail operator running through the Channel Tunnel. But recent shifts in regulation and burgeoning demand for lower-carbon travel options have boosted interest from competitors.

A handful of courageous rail companies are keen to make it happen.

I had 90 minutes connection time, which turned out to be plenty, but as usual, I was worried it wouldn’t be enough. The #Eurostar terminal is starting to show its age. Scruffy at the edges. (The one thing that I miss about the other place is following #EurostarJustin - I enjoyed his posts. Any equivalent on the fediverse?). Anyhow, we smashed our way through France. It’s a fair old dap… 9/n

Thanks to #eurostar delay, no waiting in #KingsCross. Could check platform from #nationalRail live board, had QR code ready, the only thing was to jump above Mr FirstOut who had built a wall of suitcases at carriage door - then remember, twice to the right in #StPancras.

⏲️ 20 min delay "due to operational issues" in #Rotterdam

I have a 30-min connection between #StPancras and #KingsCross, could still work… Staff announced delay and went thru carriage, I could get a Railteam delay certificate (not sure it's valid for my #LNER train, but worked last time)

First time at the new UK terminal at Amsterdam Centraal. Nice waiting area with lots of sockets (including USB-A and -c). Quite crowded for a full train (probably more last-minute travellers today?), but should get bigger during the shutdowns over the next few months.

#Eurostar - supposed to be the democratic cheap and climate friendly way to travel to Europe from the Uk between 300& 500.00 for tickets today after the #Heathrow crisis. UK must do better with its European travel links -closed most of its ferry routes and backed out of Eurostar partnership. Leaving the remaining travel routes vulnerable.

Virgin Group seeks to raise funding for a cross-Channel Eurostar rival.

Rail services halted at Gare du Nord after WW2 bomb found.

Rail traffic at the Gare du Nord in Paris, a station that receives Eurostar trains from London as well as high-speed and local services, has been halted after a World War 2 bomb was found on nearby tracks.

The unexploded bomb weighing 500kg was found in the middle of a set of tracks during overnight maintenance work in the suburb of St-Denis, about 2.5 km from Gare du Nord.

Why the hell is #Eurostar still the only one that does this route? This is 3 weeks ahead and there is only one train ticket available for this measly 2 hour trip, and that trip would cost me 160 EUR single-way? The absolute state of this
