Lovely waddle in the woods. Last time the usual route because it is prohibited to walk there from 15. March till 15. July. Saw these long-tailled tits building their nest. I wish them a successful spring.

Birding trip with daughter was fun. We had a nice waddle in area northeast of Amsterdam. We saw a lifer (and my nemesis bird): hawfinch!
We also visited Oostvaardersplassen where we saw an adult white-tailed eagle and a jack snipe (a lifer for my daughter).

IT is almost impossible to leave the area of Oostvaardersplassen without seeing a white-tailed eagle. It started to look like I would go empty handed. But in the end I saw one circling in the distance

Today is kingfisher day. Started with seeing two flying around with spring in their head. Later during the waddle I saw three chatting.

Today's waddle was in another part of the country, the Utrechtse Heuvelrug (Utrecht hill ridge). Goal species was the common crossbill. Unfortunately we didn't cross paths.
However I did have a wonderfull walk of 7 km and saw flocks of tits, firecrests and goldcrests, a lovely common kestrel watching a field in the sun. Gifts of the day was a marsh tit and a calling and flying black woodpecker.
