#Gwit est un protocole de publication de contenus textuels (sites, documentation, etc) simplissime, pensé pour fonctionner essentiellement hors-ligne. Il est basé sur #Git et #PGP. Il permet de repartager des sites (même hors ligne) sans risque que le contenu ait été modifié

Pour le moment, seuls deux sites existent à ma connaissance ^^. Mais n'importe quel site statique léger peut facilement être "hébergé" sur Gwit.

Offline BBSing (gopher://thelambdalab.xyz:70/0) describes an interesting project of an #offlineFirst BBS based on #NNCP and QWK mail format (yeah, the same used by old BBSs) 🤩

I need to learn more about NNCP and understand whether a micropython implementation exists / is feasible (pointers are more than welcome!). #gwit was already a good concept to try and bring on smol hardware, and NNCP looks like a way more general extension.

Ooof I need more holidays for all of this! 😁

This weekend I played with PG's gemini plugin so I could serve gwit sites while offline. I relied on solderpunk's GeGoBi (tildegit.org/solderpunk/gegobi) for the gemini server implementation, as I liked the idea of it being able to seamlessly serve gopherholes too 💙
Due to pico restrictions + lack of libs I had to simplify it quite a bit, but gemini seems easier to serve than gopher (if we ignore SSL...🤦‍♂️ which works great now!)

@ploum I am doing a few experiments to see how hard it would be to make a python client for gwit... I saw you were interested in a git backend for offpunk, so I thought perhaps you might find this useful: github.com/aittalam/gwit_tests

(at some point I should also write more decent code 😅 but I wanted to release stuff early and see if anyone wanted to play with it!)
