@DoctorDeathray This is #Prince with his #Hohner Madcat. Word is that he bought this second hand for $30 as a teenager. Decades later he was still playing it. He almost never put it down!

That said, over here the number one selling instruments are probably three-row button accordions for the norteño market

Which brings up the whole other issue of how most are really boring

The norteño market knows how to sell new accordions at different prices and quality with lots of flash

I would hope a handmade Melodeon would be in a different quality level entirely

But I might like a range of colors

I’d really like one of these Hohner kids accordions, which we immediately started thinking of as backpackers, Accordions, and they later started marketing that way

But I don’t think the button version has ever been available in North America, and I’m not sure any of them are available now

Yes, #Hohner has a good (not infallible) spreadsheet in the back of their very nice coffee table book History Unfolds

I haven’t seen any equivalent lists for other #accordion makers (so nothing for the millions of Italian instruments)

I thought I mentioned the #Pianaccord in my #AccordionRevolution history of the #accordion but I guess not?

I may have only learned about them when I was researching electronic Accordions for a talk after I published

That was fun

Here’s a few of the hits from that including ones from #farfisa (started as an accordion company) and #Hohner (who made millions of #harmonicas accordions and #keyboards like the #clavinet)

But I really want a #Multimonica!
