My Star Magnolia is blooming — my favorite harbinger of spring.
My trusty ID app tells me this is a #MagnoliaStellata, sometimes known as the star #magnolia. Pics taken last week.
The overall tree itself looked tired with leaves that mimic drought stricken conditions. However, I’m learning this season, many appear this way. And I believe it’s sometimes their inherent appearance (some species) during their late blooming phase, I think. Happy to be corrected, as this is based on observation only.
Nevertheless, these flowers present bright as a button and quite exquisite, for mine!
#Magnolia is a large genus of about 210 to 340 flowering plant species in the subfamily Magnolioideae of the family Magnoliaceae. It is named after the French botanist Pierre Magnol.
