About 40 minutes later this was taken. Shows both parents back on ledge. Female grabs some of the last kill and heads straight down.
Wondering if this indicates the baby survived the fall but may be injured down on the ground.
Really wish there were cameras at ground level too.
Ah well.
Nature I guess. Hoping the little one is ok and will thrive 🕊️ 💞

Recently I have fallen in love (and become a bit over invested if I'm honest) with the Peregrine Falcons who are nesting in a high rise on Collins Street in Melbourne.

Here is their last fledgling looking out this morning in what appears to be some careful contemplation as to whether today is the day she will take her leap and fly!
Only go when you're ready little girl. 💞

*"Since 1991, a pair of Peregrine Falcons has been observed in a nest on the rooftop of 367 Collins Street. As home to the only known peregrine falcon nesting site within Melbourne’s CBD, the building plays a surprisingly important role to the ongoing breeding success of these rare and fiercely territorial birds."

The trio of peregrine falcon chicks nesting in downtown Hamilton are all female, and as of Wednesday, they have names: Blakeley, Westdale and Stinson.

Normally lounging about 18 storeys up on a ledge of the Sheraton Hotel, the sisters got to go inside to be weighed, named and banded on Wednesday: cbc.ca/news/canada/hamilton/pe #HamOnt #PeregrineFalcons #News #CBC

Without the Endangered Species Act, we'd have never seen #wolves reintroduced to #Yellowstone National Park, #PeregrineFalcons would likely be extinct, and #WhoopingCranes would be lost to history.

99% of the #species ever listed under the Endangered Species Act are still alive today. That's an incredible track record of success, but we can't take it for granted.
