Costume designer Van Smith, who worked with John Waters on every movie from "Pink Flamingos" to "A Dirty Shame", will be inducted posthumously into the Costume Designers Guild's Edith Piaf Hall of Fame February 6, with Waters presenting the honor.

52 years ago today on March 17 1972, my favorite movie 'Pink Flamingos' had its premiere at the campus of the University of Baltimore. It's quite a film.
I don't recommend you watch this movie unless you're prepared for some weird and gross stuff. But I grew up in Maryland and it sure does sum up Baltimore in a beautiful and bizarre way.
I love John Waters flicks, and this one's my favorite forever.
