This 1918 US stamp was created for the Post Office's very first regular airmail service, carrying letters and parcels between Washington, DC; Philadelphia; and New York City. It's also famous for a big printing error: At least four 100-stamp sheets were printed with the 'Jenny' airplane upside down. Most of these 'Inverted Jenny' sheets were destroyed by the Post Office, but at least one sheet was sold to a customer.

Or maybe two.

Does the US postal service hate its exporters? Was all hot to trot to buy a piece of light clothing that would've been $77 on a special deal - but the postage from US to Ireland would have been $73 on top of that!
