I think this is my new creed:
Don't hate people, hate injustice.
(preparators of injustice will get some of that hate, and that's completely ok).
Hank has a good perspective on the internet age, but I feel he - like many - miss an important point: The so-called 4th Estate, a.k.a. #news #media, specifically exist to be a remedy against things like this & isn't.
Instead of doing their job, the #press gleefully jumped into populism with both feet - if they hadn't, maybe we'd have had a public conversation which actually involved knowing about these problems & making informed decisions about them...

John is completely correct here; #contentcreators are MASSIVELY undervalued. In fact, and this is going to sound incredible, but I'm pretty sure The Big Five(ish) all believe, at least at the top level, that if #AI works out they can reap the same benefits & profits without human content creators. They can't, but the trouble is, they're so wealthy they can resist this realization for years, breaking things even more as they do...

We suck, not only because we're unforgivably unaware of our culture & how much it controls us & how hard it is for us to change the habits that, collectively, is what it is made of - but also & perhaps most because of how mad we get at anyone even hinting that we could maybe change a habit & that might be a good thing.

The latest #vlogbrothers video could've so easily been about them helping all nerdfighters at least to some degree escape the algorithms, by launching their own #fediverse server or supporting dftba.club ( @nomadgeek ) or "we're gonna be more active in the fediverse" or something like that
Instead it's about yet another newsletter. That is, yet another one way communication channel, instead of "let's talk more without the algorithms, together"
