No way is this actually worth $3500 though. I wouldn't be surprised if it was made in a garage or barn in Alberta or rural BC.
The most common type for sale on Vancouver craigslist are Iranian santurs (because of the high number of Iranians here and many santur players), I actually cannot judge how much those are worth and the prices vary wildly. When people are selling them for thousands and claiming it's made by such-and-such master I have no way of judging if it's true!

P.S. Es ist ein #Kharak. So heißt eine einzelne Brücke beim #Santur. Das ist ein #Musikinstrument, was oft in und um #Iran gespielt wird.
This is a #solo performance on the #santur, one of the main instruments within #Persian #music. The santur is a trapezoid hammered box #zither (AKA #dulcimer) with 72 strings; often in three groups of nine pitches in courses of 4. Habib Soma’i, a master of the santur once said: “The tuning of the santur made me old.” Because tuning the #instrument is difficult, especially matching the four-string-courses exactly, as dissonance is not a desired aesthetic, or switching between the various microtonal dastgah that lay at the heart of #Iranian music theory. The derived Kashmiri santoor and various modern innovations have increased the number of bridges and strings, introduced levers to facilitate easier switching between scales, and construction methods for more tonal consistency.
