Standish Hospital started out as a manor house. Later, it saw a variety of medical uses over the decades. Eventually, it closed in 2004.

Today, I returned to an almost completely abandoned town on the Iowa-Missouri border.
Two years ago, the forsythia bushes were spectacular. Less so today, but the abandoned water heater seems to be about the same. (The buildings are on the Missouri side of the road.)
Piscine Tournesol - A 1970s abandoned swimming pool in France 
“Tournesol” translates to sunflower, and relates to the shape and unique mechanisms of the dome covering the pool. It was able to slide open to allow in the sun, the segments moved on rails allowing them to be closed throughout the day. Following the sun's path, like a sunflower!
Sadly, it was demolished in 2018.
Barcelona's city planning was designed and built in 1859 by urban planner and engineer Ildefons Cerdà. This grid facilitates airflow throughout the streets while maximizing sunlight and daylight entering shops and apartments on the lower floors.
