Futurism: Allstate Is Demanding We Delete These Quotes by Its Exec About How It’s Using AI to Write Insurance Emails . “We were struck this week when the Wall Street Journal reported that Allstate, a major insurance company, had largely handed over the task of writing claims emails over to an AI system. The WSJ’s source wasn’t remotely controversial; it was Allstate’s own chief information […]
Texas #AttorneyGeneral #KenPaxton filed #lawsuit against #Allstate and subsidiary #Arity for unlawfully collecting, using, and selling driving data from over 45 million Americans.
They are accused of paying millions of dollars to app developers to embed tracking code in widely used mobile apps to gather location and movement data of people without their knowledge or consent.
Data was used to profile people’s driving habits and adjust insurance quoting or renewal costs.

Texas has joined Louisiana and Florida as the states with the highest home insurance rates as coverage areas continue to shrink. Rates have gone up across the state by an average of 21% last year.
Despite their stupid gecko nonsense, #Geico #insurance recently reported a huge jump in quarterly profit on higher premiums.
When asked, insurers *say* it's because of too many claims, but this is not reflected in their earnings reports nor balance sheets. Since 2021, most are even reporting LOWER customer claims. The other big auto insurers, like #Allstate, #AmericanFamily, #StateFarm and #Progressive, have been pulling the same nonsense while making record profits.
In a quarterly earnings call, #Allstate executives said that they were not done with premium increases, but that they were marginally concerned about pushing customers too far — and potentially losing them to competitors that may pause an escalation in rates.
Translation: #InsuranceCompanies are willing to push you to the breaking point for their own #greed. Time to shop around for a new insurer.
Have your auto insurance rates gone up significantly over the last year or so?
Here's why: Shares of stock from insurance companies like #Travelers, #Progressive and #Allstate hit RECORD HIGHS after the companies announced yet another round of premium increases that they expect to cover BILLIONS of dollars *more* than the annual claims they expect to pay.
This price-gouging brought to you by: #Capitalism & #Greed
#InsuranceCompanies are NOT your friends.

Even if #millenials can afford to buy a house, the fact that the big #insurance companies -- at least in #California -- aren't writing homeowner policies make such an investment really risky. I wish this #WashingtonPost article had mentioned these 2 things: 1) the fact that #StateFarm, #AllState, #Farmers, and #USAA are "putting a pause on these policies" (words used by agent) because of 2) #ClimateChange.

"At least five large #US property insurers — including #Allstate, #AmericanFamily, #Nationwide, #ErieInsurance Group and #BerkshireHathaway — have told regulators that #ExtremeWeather patterns caused by #ClimateChange have led them to stop writing coverages in some regions, exclude protections from various weather events and raise monthly #premiums and #deductibles."
