Judge Indira Talwani, who sentenced Jack Teixeira to 15 years in prison for leaking classified information, took the unusual step of recommending that the Bureau of Prisons make eight specific books available to Teixeira in prison. These books, including "Asperger's Syndrome and Jail: A survival guide" by Will Attwood, are intended to address Teixeira's autism and ADHD.

The world music business moves on. Hurricane Helene was unable to stop new record day Friday. Saturday morning finds DW listening to Bill Frisell and friends Breaking the Shell record, Guitar Jazz with Andrew Cyrille on drums, and Kit Downes on keyboards. I think Bill charmed him into playing synths for this recording. Anyway DW likes it and we're spared as he has cans on.

Mosaic Records (the premier re-issuer of old jazz classic sets) is now accepting pre-orders for a new 11 CD set of V-Disc (V for Victory) recordings produced between 1942-1949 for the US military.
Since the US govt ordered that all of the masters & stampers be destroyed at the end of the program, Mosaic re-mastered the recordings from available 78s (& in some cases from masters that were saved from destruction).
I just ordered it & haven't heard all of it yet but clips from the set are provided in the link below. Since this music was produced during the hey-day of #SwingJazz (prior to post-war #Bop) that's what you're going to hear on this set but it's music that no one except your parents or grandparents ever got to hear when the music was originally produced & aired.
