New #review today: "#JillFraser is a composer and electronic musician with a background in television, films, and commercials using #Moog, #Buchla, and #Serge modular synthesizers, along with standard analog and digital synthesizers. She studied with #MortonSubotnick, #MelPowell, #JohnCage, and #LouHarrison at Cal Arts." #ExposeOnline #ElectronicMusic #ExperimentalMusic expose.org/index.php/articles/

So the friend of mine who helped get me started in eurorack #synthesizers has moved on to bigger standards. This is a 4u rack for #Buchla style modules that he was commissioned to make for someone attending Machina Bristronica in #Bristol this weekend. It was only just finished in time, but then it got chosen as the header image of the Guardian's article about the event, so that's a massive win!

This week I finished listening to the two-part interview with Morton Subotnick at podbay.fm/p/electronically-you. I could listen to him talk for several more episodes, but this is good.

One interesting thing: He doesn't consider the #Buchla system a synthesizer. It is "an analog computer for making music". It was intended to be digital. But it wasn't possible when it was made, so they had to make it analog.
