Alice Freyja<p>That's very concerning.... Keep the broligarch out of our politics. This is the last thing this country needs... We need stronger lobbying laws and we need to make sure our politicians are fighting this. </p><p> <a href="https://cosocial.ca/tags/canpolitics" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>canpolitics</span></a> <a href="https://cosocial.ca/tags/canada" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>canada</span></a> <a href="https://cosocial.ca/tags/canadaelection2025" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>canadaelection2025</span></a> <a href="https://cosocial.ca/tags/broligarchs" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>broligarchs</span></a> <a href="https://cosocial.ca/tags/techbros" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>techbros</span></a> <a href="https://cosocial.ca/tags/doge" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>doge</span></a></p><p><a href="https://thewalrus.ca/are-a-handful-of-wealthy-tech-bros-bringing-doge-to-canada/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">thewalrus.ca/are-a-handful-of-</span><span class="invisible">wealthy-tech-bros-bringing-doge-to-canada/</span></a></p>
CaledonMoneypit 🇨🇦<p>Really good analysis of the housing policy positions for CPC, Liberals, and NDP. The best direction - based on non-market solutions- is arguably presented by the NDP, which is unfortunate because they may not be a factor in this election. A minority government would allow the NDP to perhaps turn some of their ideas, with some better substance, into legislation and implementation. </p><p><a href="https://mstdn.ca/tags/CanPoli" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>CanPoli</span></a> #<a href="https://mstdn.ca/tags/CanadaElection2025" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>CanadaElection2025</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.ca/tags/HousingCrisis" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>HousingCrisis</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.ca/tags/AffordableHousing" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>AffordableHousing</span></a> <br><a href="https://youtu.be/1k6hWGQ83l4?si=zMyxkHQZn44RVBBL" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">youtu.be/1k6hWGQ83l4?si=zMyxkH</span><span class="invisible">QZn44RVBBL</span></a></p>

Timbit Trump has made it clear he will attack Indigenous people with glee just like his mentor Terrorist Trump. Voting in a Canadian election doesn't make Indigenous people a colonist.

My idea of reconciliation includes Indigenous participation in elections, since the election result will directly affect Indigenous people, and because they can raise issues in the election.

The only ones that shouldn't vote are the MAGA-con timbit yankees.

The party claiming to be defenders of property rights (and provincial autonomy) wants to create corridors across Canada that all orders of government would be "required to approve" for "pipelines, power lines, railways, and other projects.”

"Liberal leader and Prime Minister Mark Carney continues to maintain an advantage among most demographic groups. Men aged 35- to 54-years-old are the only age-gender segment to be more likely to vote Conservative"

As a man in the 55+ category I would like to say, c'mon guys (especially those in the 35-54 category), we should be better than this!

As for my #NDP, it sucks, but it seems we reap what we have sown (or rather, not sown or talked about.)

angusreid.org · Election 2025: Incumbent lead holds as CPC edge among men dwarfed by Liberal advantage among women -CPC leads by two points among men, Liberals lead by 19 points among women March 31, 2025 – In a campaign that has been remarkable for its volatility and dynamism, a new element enters the race: relative stability. New data from the non-profit Angus Reid Institute finds voter intention unchanged over the last week, with...

Michael Harris in The Tyee pointing out Carney’s credentials over Poilievre in dealing with Trump’s economic threat:

“If mishandled, it could, after all, cost the country its auto industry, and hundreds of thousands of jobs in other sectors. The times call for a sophisticated negotiator with a background in finance, not a political attack dog specializing in bumper-sticker put-downs.”

Plus a great cartoon at the header.

"After centuries of attempting to assimilate francophones, Canada finally established new laws and approaches designed to ensure their equitable inclusion in the national government, including through the Official Languages Act of 1969 and the recognition of the importance of French in employment equity policies. This is, by any definition, part of a perfectly sensible DEI approach."
