Good morning! Today I've got the crown molding of three rooms and two hallways to caulk. The thing that will sustain my morale as I work overhead for much of the day is the visible struggle on the hardware store guy's face when I asked him where he kept his white Big Stretch caulk.

Also, if you're wondering why I would use this over something like Alex, I learned a TON from this video.

Moved into this house a couple years ago. We knew the door to the staircase was too short so ripped out the header in probably the first 6 months...and then it sat there, wood/nails exposed, for FAR too long.
I finally got the spark to get it finished! It still needs plaster and paint but the tear out & rebuild is complete 😄

The original doorway to the stairs. A normal height doorframe in a cherry wood leads to a set of wooden stairs going up. The walls are white, the floor at the base a dark oak, and you can see there is another doorway to the left of the stairs leading into a room with a grey floor. There's a red cat leash and a small Pusheen (grey stuffed cat) on the stairs.
The same staircase, taken from slightly further away. The doorframe is entirely gone, and the top of the door now etends to within 3" of the ceiling. The frame to the left is still there, but the floor is now brown and you can see a white trashcan just beyond it. The very bottom step of the stairs is unfinished oak in a warm cream. On the stairs are some tools including a mallet and an electric drill, and hanging on the wall to the right inside the stairwell are a bunch of frames.

I’m moving my things in as I type this, but the room is officially done! I just finished trimming the carpet to fit and started moving furniture in!

I’ll definitely follow up with more pics once I’m fully settled in and the space is decorated, but I’m so elated and excited for this day to finally arrive!

Here's what I'm dealing with refinishing the upstairs floor of the house. This is after carpet and pad were ripped out and tack strips removed. There's oak flooring under that carpet glue! This room doesn't seem too bad either. The previous three were good (see older posts) #wood #HomeImprovement

Oh, forgot to post a floor redo update. Almost two weeks now, finished up the floor in our bedroom. The wood was in a bit rougher shape than our office, especially around the edges. This room, like all, had glued down carpet on the oak sometime too. This sanding went a bit easier though. Having two closets made for a bit more work overall. New trim too.

Now on to my son's bedroom. In the middle of sanding that now.

Been rather busy, and maple season is near...
