Ein #LiveHörspiel-Tipp zum Jahresende: Die #Hörspiel-Adaption von Giorgio Ferrettis -wortwörtlich ausgezeichneten- Theaterstück „America“ ist am 21. und 22.12.2024 in der Theaterfabrik #Düsseldorf zu sehen (und hören).
Am 30. und 31.01.2025 zudem im Café ADA in #Wuppertal. Und ab 01.02.2025 dann bei allen gängigen Streaminganbietern.

That’s not to say it’s not easy to make mistakes even so—even if we’re just talking geography, I’m sure we’ve all read books set in places we live written by people who don’t live there who got something wrong that’s super-obvious to a local—but my point here is more that elevating #OwnVoice is always going to be important; but it also can’t be used as a straightjacket (pun intended, especially when we’re talking queer voices given the complexity of being out/closeted/questioning).

#WritersCoffeeClub Feb 6: If you were to write a sequel centered on one of your SCs, which would you pick?

Two answers. One: if I had the editor skills, I'd love to create an #Ownvoice anthology with stories from the other characters in my fictionalized Village (Marion, Phoebe, Fiona & Jenn, etc.), asking writers whose identities match those supporting characters to take them out for a spin.

Two: from Triad, Matthew and Jace (they had a short story, mind), and the rest of the Craft Night kids.

Bref, je remets interface en ligne, un roman d'autofiction de 2018, ça parle beaucoup de validisme, d'art, de trauma, de masking autistique et puis d'amour aussi, le tout de la perspective de Teddy, une sale gosse neuroqueer.

Ce sont des sujets lourds mais j'ai essayé de traiter ça de manière légère et je sais que, malgré ses défauts, il y a des gens à qui ça a fait du bien:

Anyway. I've discussed this topic before, I'm sure it'll recur over and over, but here's the short version: #OwnVoice can't be used as a straightjacket (no pun intended) for queer writing without doing harm, but lived experience representation absolutely matters. But anyone can write anything. (And can be critiqued for it, which is important, but different from not being allowed to write something).

Heute schreibe ich zu kultureller Diversität in meinem Roman #WennEsNichtPassiert. Für mich ist es ein besonders interessanter Punkt, weil er verglichen mit den anderen kaum #OwnVoice ist: Ich schreibe Repräsentation, die mich nicht selbst betrifft. In diesem Fall geht es um eine Parallele zum Judentum. Mit den Noldafin und Nöldischsein füge ich dem Worldbuilding eine Referenz auf Judentum und Jüdischsein hinzu. Linoschka ist nöldich und die nöldische Band Schabernakel ist im Roman zentral.
