I still have a hard time watching the episode, and I cannot hope to understand the agonizing dilemma facing Janeway.

But #Tuvix had both their skills, the episode makes that clear. He just had his own personality, that was the difference.

That and his name wasn't in the credits. Gosh, I hope the actor playing me in this production of Reality we're all in had a good agent.

I LOVE this episode

I love when characters are pushed out of their normal experiences or comfort zone and Tim Russ is an amazing actor

but ALSO for how fucking GAY it is I thoroughly ship #Tuvix

but also this is the second episode where Tuvok desperately does not want to go back to being himself and it's fucking TRAGIC

That #StarTrekEnterprise episode felt way more messed up than #Tuvix.

Were #Tuvok and #Neelix dead?

Their matter was successfully transported and combined into a new being #Tuvix that was alive, that in fact had their memories and was a combined version of their personality.

But I'm not sure that meant #Neelix and #Tuvok were dead or merely subsumed by the new construct.

With respect to #Tuvix never being mentioned, a key piece of this story's climax is missing: what do #Neelix and #Tuvok remember of Tuvix, and what did they think of #Janeway's decision afterwards?

We get a hint that Neelix is happy to be back the way he greets #Kes.

You are mostly correct about Tuvix never being mentioned again, tho Naomi Wildman mentions him when telling the other Talaxians of Neelix's adventures in #Homestead.

#Tuvix is "alive" only because 2 other crewmen are trapped within him. He's basically a seamless collective, except the two people that make him are so seamlessly integrated they don't know to ask to be freed, and speak as one.

Imagine if the computer in #TheThaw, rather than torture its sleepers, had used their brains to form a new entity, to the point that the sleepers could no longer think.

Of course they should be freed!
