What is that, a #CSR on #serverless, an #SSR hooked up to a #VPS - or maybe you even manage your own #kubernetes. Daring, aren't we?

For some people, this is all static. But, they know what the #web is. They know that it's where the crawlers live.

When I look at this chart, I think #WebSocial has a ring to it that might project "Other" into the top 5 - maybe even top 3.

Why?

This chart shows the distribution of monthly active users (MAU) across various software platforms that are compatible with Web Social (formerly known as "The Fediverse"). The Fediverse user distribution shows that on the date of March 29th 2025 Mastodon had 71.53%, Pixelfed had 11.90%, Lemmy had 4.11%, and PeerTube had 3.96%, while other platforms like Misskey, Microdotblog, and Writefreely had shares below 1%, and Bridgy-fed and Mobilizon have no recorded users, with 6.73% belonging to other platforms."

Any recommendations for cloud providers and hosting your own email? Thinking of migrating my vanity domains MX to a new server after noticing in the logs that spamhaus thinks I’m an open relay (I’m not. I’ve tested multiple times) and I didn’t see a good way to petition the ip listing.

I send very little mail and mostly run the server as a hobby (I enjoy reading my mailing lists with mutt and I like controlling the server that I send/receive at) ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

In the end, no, your #closetserver or #VPS is not enough. Your #managedhosting solution is not enough. The world 🌍 runs on #cloud infra and that's not what's bad.

What's bad is how it's been implemented, how it's a threat to #privacy, how it's a threat to #DigitalSovreignty, as well as #wellfare AND #freemarket - at the same time!

So what do you do? Throw the baby out with the bathwater, or do you question the actual hardware infra, as well as the legal industrial precedents set?
