As Dumas was on the ground, the officer kicked his head, with a civilian witness reporting it was "as if you're kicking … a soccer ball." Dumas was knocked unconscious, and had to undergo emergency surgery for a brain injury. Police determined he was unarmed, and he was never charged with a crime.

Even if you accept the death penaly as 'just and right' (which I do not), the evidence of prosecution fraud and a refusal to reconsider evidence in the light of modern forensics (basic DNA analysis for crying out loud) - this is a stain on America. I won't say humanity just yet, there are a lot of unplesent people out there - they just seem to have a lot more power to abuse and lie in a country that considers itself modern.

Was talking to a coworker today about a bad legal situation they ended up in (long story). Never having been in trouble before, they were shocked to learn that each time you show up to a probation meeting, in addition to your court-ordered fine you have to pay a $50 “probation fee.” That plus interest on the fine because it’s paid in installments will double the fine! #legalSystem #injustice
