It's a <a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/Chromium" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Chromium</span></a> fork with MANY speed optimisations. Although <a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/VivaldiBrowser" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>VivaldiBrowser</span></a> is fast (and my daily driver), it's only fast when most of my tabs are hibernated.</p><p>I just gave Thorium a try and... whenever I click on something, that page item instantly reacts. Videos? They get played right away on YouTube. Pages have zero load times. WHAAAAATTT?! 😱</p><p>It's like back in the Windows 98 SE days! :amaze:</p>

A process historically favoured by the military because plutonium is a byproduct. (citation needed)</p><p>There are many other ways of generating power by fission of uranium and thorium. Some of these ways include molten salt cooling (safer) and methods where the reactive core is in a molten state (no zirconium rods enclosing fuel pellets) where all reactions cease if the core is breached. </p><p>Then there’s reprocessing of nuclear waste using up the plutonium leaving “less hazardous” waste to bury on Australian land. A Hard Man to Like™ 🇦🇺<p><span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://mastodon.social/@Ronnie" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@<span>Ronnie</span></a></span> It's a few new features over the top of <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Chromium" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Chromium</span></a> basically. Little bit more customizability. I don't know if that's worth completely switching browser. That being said, I'm still kinda impressed with <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Thorium" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Thorium</span></a>'s speed. The latter has apparently been compiled with numerous CPU-specific flags to take advantage of more specialty performance features than <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Chrome" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Chrome</span></a> itself. I've loaded it up with as many extensions as <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Brave" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Brave</span></a> and it still "seems" faster. More experimentation required.</p>
