@vantablue That looks like the keyboard one uses to type out a #StarTrek screenplay.
you sure have tuned into my frequency today
@wordsmith Speaking of Star Trek, my fantasy is to win the lottery and then spend several years writing extensive recaps of each and every ST:NG episode for a blog that makes no money.
If that happens, I'll buy us both one of these babies.
@vantablue I may be your winning lottery numbers: https://www.missionlogpodcast.com/
They have been deep-diving into every episode since TOS. Up to early Voyager so far.
@wordsmith EXCELLENT.
@vantablue I had to take a deep breath before I sent you that because I'm like "this is going to be a religious experience and I should take a moment before I drop it"
@wordsmith Do I need one more piece of media to consume? I do not. Will I binge this thing like there's no tomorrow? You bet your life I will.
@wordsmith @vantablue I began watching the Voyager series in its entirety from the start pretty recently. I started with the Voyager series of Mission Log after @wordsmith put me onto it, and I’m really enjoying it.
@vantablue @wordsmith Extensive recaps of Star Trek episodes? Have you met @Taweret, by any chance...?
@XanIndigo @wordsmith @Taweret Not yet! Following now!
@XanIndigo @vantablue How can anyone have not encountered Masto's best Trek shitposter? Banned in sixteen sectors, the only person with open arrest warrants on both Risa and Feregenar!
@Taweret
@wordsmith @XanIndigo @Taweret Well I'm still a bit of a n00b. I try hard not to act like it, tho.
@vantablue @XanIndigo @Taweret
"I'm a n00b"
*sends pics of Cuneform keyboards to a writing instance*
@vantablue @wordsmith I'm pretty sure that would make plenty of money if you sold Trekki merch.
@akshayjamwal nah mate that's Lexx hardware there, you can tell by the odd smell.
@wordsmith @vantablue and yet all I can think is CHEVRON SEVEN LOCKED
@KaylaStorytella @wordsmith @vantablue best not to ask what they did with waste generated within SGC.
@chantelier @wordsmith @vantablue haha if anyone did ask the SGC would likely “refuse” to acknowledge it
@KaylaStorytella
Let's just say it goes "thud" at the other end and they pretend not to hear it.
@chantelier @vantablue
@vantablue Oh, I love this
@vantablue there’s no escape ;-)
@vantablue YES! But the consumables on the clay tablet printer are hideously expensive. You can only use HP clay in HP clay printers... Sigh. When will they learn?
@vantablue Fantastic!
@vantablue you should check out my mam's keyboard if you're into this sort of thing! @dirtycitybird check this out!
@Lilith @vantablue A cuneiform one?!?! *swoon*
Mine, cló gaelach and as gaeilge.
@dirtycitybird loved this from the first time I saw it over on the other place!
@dirtycitybird @Lilith This is very cool - and a bit more practical than the cuneiform.
@vantablue @Lilith All depends on who you are XD
@vantablue ughhhh this is best
@vantablue , that's pretty sweet...
'never in my wildest dreams...'
I was always fascinated by cuneiform since the Sumerian history reads like a sci fi story
Any idea if there's a online way to learn and is it a good thing to do so? (My reasoning is that there's a large number of tablets still untranslated - or are they using AI now to speed things up?)
@Antigrav No idea! It is cool, tho. Did you get to make 'cuneiform tablets' in school as a kid with clay and wooden cuticle sticks?
@vantablue , no such luck. I came to know about them quite late, I read the epic of Gilgamesh and wanted to know more about it.
@vantablue wooow! I love it!
@vantablue Finally! I have someone I've been meaning to have words with regarding the quality of their copper ingots!
@vantablue I must have one. Dare I ask?
@vantablue finally I can complain about copper ingots properly
@vantablue but how does it inscribe on wet clay tablets?
@vantablue what ancient language is that keyboard suited for? Old Persian?
@vantablue There used to be a cuneiform input method for Mac with a kanji-like candidate list. The webpage disappeared a few years ago, but the version I downloaded still works!
@vantablue The perfect input method for tablets.
@vantablue omg I'm normally not into #keyboards but this is so beautiful!
@vantablue
Isn't this Babylonian keys?
@vantablue does it come with a clay printer?
@vantablue
$ setxkbmap -layout cun ?
"cunecations", shirly?
@vantablue just a couple of days ago I had the urge to learn cuneiform for fun. And I love custom keyboards. This may need to happen.
@cliffcheney Doooooo it!
@adam_casto YES, OMG
o teclado do @cevado aí
@vantablue Finally I can complain about my shipment of copper.
@vantablue perfect for a quick and handy encoding of those on the fly shubs! :)
@vantablue @julientaq tu ne l’as pas celui là ?
