@ErikJonker I think what this shows is that #US constitutional checks and balances potentially are not sufficient. The question then becomes how should they be adjusted to be better, while still retaining the ability to make decisive action in a crisis? Are there other models which have worked better?

Could we conclude that actually a constitutional #monarchy might offer a better balance? Ie. one where Head of State interferes in a soft way, and also in a crisis.

Police admit after 2.5 years they were wrong to arrest and summon for questioning a man who merely asked “who elected him?” when stuck on his way home in a crowd proclaiming Charles as the new head of state.

But would they have acknowledged their over reach if this man hadn’t been a trainee Baptist minister with the legal support of Liberty?

#Democracy Is Done: The Rise of Corporate #Monarchy

#ElonMusk, #JDVance, and #PeterThiel are executing a long-planned agenda to take over the government. Donald #Trump is just a dementia-addled old man along for the ride, ranting about windmills and magnets and taking over canals, and content to just sign large pieces of papers for the TV cameras all day.

The Trumpland Diary · Democracy Is Done: The Rise of Corporate MonarchyBy Shane Almgren

In this new #Trumpian era, a Republican-led #Congress is no longer a coequal branch of government. Instead, it has been refashioned as an enabler of Trump’s whims, resentments and obsessions. Trump’s objective is less to pass legislation — he seems to be relying primarily on #executiveorders, so far — and more to troll #Democrats and assert his dominance over a feeble opposition party that doesn’t quite know how to play its role. This is what an “elected #monarchy” looks like. wapo.st/3QJqjKu
