Dear Maggie…

I was going to post another selfie for today, but it just happened that I've made this shot yesterday in the morning. It was shot with my Huawei and in RAW.
This flower (which I called "Maggie" from Magenta, because I don't know its common or scientific name) is one of the hardest to shoot, for me. For a) The tone of the color always makes a problem for me whether in phone camera or DSLR, and b) It closes by night (or almost disappears) and must be shot during the day under the sun (and working under the sun is always hard, specially if for macro). Anyway, I managed to shoot it with DSLR handheld and in "simple" macro, which I might be posting later (still processing the images).

**3D printed flower pot holder (hook) “Cranny”**

Read it on my blog, it has a nicer image/text layout.

I had some pots planted with strawberries and wanted them to hang them to the side of raised beds. I ran out of metallic hooks.

So I designed and 3d printed it.

The final result (flower/strawberry pots hanged at the side of the raised beds):

The first version (without the ‘crane’ structure) was too bendy to hold the pot in place.

Printed:

While printing (Prusa’s PETG, rough mode – 0.3mm layer height, speed: 100mm/s, fan: 50%, flow: 105%). The printer bed was just big enough (22x22cm):

TinkerCad design:

You can download .STL from Printables.

Printing issues

First 2 tries were a mess. My printer just didn’t want to print PETG properly anymore. It made zits, skipped lines, … ugly in one word.

Then I replaced the nozzle (after 2 years!), re-calibrated the bed, Z-height, tightened the screws and it made all the difference. I can push the speed of my poor Sovol SV06 up to 100mms again. Only the outer layer I print with 30 mm/s.

You can see how worn was the nozzle (it supposed to be pointy, not flat):

The next issue was warping. The left edge of the magnetic metallic print bed raised a bit when PETG was cooling down. So I made this to keep it in place:

My sister I love, who is a lawyer, and who has DEFINITELY not ever, not even once, smoked a joint IN HER LIFE, has been appointed the #Cannabis Attorney for her state.

I have IMMEDIATELY sent her a "You're DOPE!" birthday card. Her birthday is in July.

I am going to get literal YEARS of fun out of this. She is going to really, really regret that her state legalized #pot.
