I've been an #editor for many years, and I still learn new things about #editing and #Microsoft #Word all the time. This one's from my colleague Adrienne Montgomerie: "Shrink #Files by Deleting Unused #Styles." Go read her helpful post! https://eiw365.com/shrink-files-by-deleting-unused-styles/

Why do so many web developers hard-code stylistic elements and/or don't document them? CSS is there for a reason, kids. It's so Web1.0.
Worked with an #acting #coaching client on different #styles/tones. Different shows, time periods, directors, writers and more vastly change some of the how we do what we do in a scene, and experimenting with that in general and adapting our work to it in specific is valuable. It was so cool discovering how doing some material in two different director's styles shifted things.

@sarajw @matthiasott Thank you. I created previously a simple #theme #switcher #component for handling easily multiple #light/#dark #styles, available here:

Procrastinating from work by checking out alternative styling theme options.
Here is a screenshot of how the interface looks for me now.
A combo of two themes from userstyles.org, with one minor css tweak added and the domain of my instance added for both themes.

@libreoffice@fosstodon.org hey, guys, I just tried to use the functionality to #import #styles from another #document. And sorry, but it's terrible, in part because the online documentation tells users to check Overwrite — something you quite likely do not want to do.
I think you should consider slightly redesigning this feature. Get rid of the overwrite checkbox altogether, it's not useful. Instead,
— Select the type(s) of styles you want to import
— Choose the source you want to import from
— Be presented with a list of styles from that document (filterable by all, standard, custom)
— Select which style(s) you want to import.
— It should be ASSUMED that if you select a style for import that already exists, you intend to overwrite it. (You could add an "Overwrite?" confirmation popup if there are conflicts, if you want to be sure.)
Hey I want to commission someone to make a skin/style for Mastodon that compliments our mascot color scheme.
You don't need to be able to implement the entire thing, just the design portion. If you give me sliced assets and a table of hex color values I can take care of the rest
Any takers? Name your price and let's talk

#Microsoft #Word, after all these years you still don't like entire #academic #book #manuscripts in one file, especially with #images in there, plenty of Word #styles, & #TrackedChanges from multiple people. You still want single-chapter files, don't you? #AmEditing #editors #Bookstodon
One of the nice things with the new conditional syntax in Kitten¹ is that you can have conditional styles in your components :)
So, apparently '90s #styles are back? Or somesuch? I'm seeing 20-somethings on TV wearing the same clothes I remember wearing in the mid-'90s. It's so weird. And it makes them look old?!
And I remind myself that this is the same as when we in the '90s adopted bits and pieces of '60s #fashion, and I suddenly realized how weird it is to be the same age as #old people

Steve Lukather: “I played Jeff Beck and Eddie Van Halen’s guitars – and I sounded like myself. But some of Jeff’s guitars were set up so strangely only he could play them”
In this previously unpublished interview, Lukather explains why Jeff Beck’s untouchable, “alien” approach to the guitar made..

Mit einem Firefox-Plugin wie Stylebot kann man sich das Aussehen von Webseiten mit CSS individuell anpassen, so auch hier auf Mastodon.
