Last week #DaysOfWonder announced a #CommandsAndColors style #StarWars #BattleOfHoth #boardgame and fans/gamers are buzzing. We still don’t know many details; the situation remains fluid. But I chime in with some observations, questions, and a look at various uncertainties.

I have been enjoying Folklore the Affliction #BoardGame. Greenbrier Games went out of business due to a Kickstarter screwup, which is a shame because they were a local game producer. But it is fun and tells a good story. I wish I could get the Dark Tales expansion. I got the base game and Fall of the Spire expansion very cheaply. I don’t need another expansion, but there you go. At least I got the updated anniversary edition. #BoardGames.

new stuff this long weekend:
1. two coffee cups, handmade, sold by the public library, besides books the public library also has seeds, so the quote makes double sense
2. the board game Finspan, a fish version of Wingspan, it 20% simpler than the original Wingspan, plays differently enough to pay for it

I have long enjoyed talking with #boardgame publishers & designers about the development & production process, and the decisions therein. I love #boardgames. It’s a subject I enjoy knowing about.
Reading all the posts about the costs & complexities of game production in a time of massive tariffs have been extra revealing.
I still think the negative aspects far outweigh any supposed long term benefits.
So, get off your arse. Complain to your representatives. Make your voice heard. March!
I feel that any company running a #TTRPG or #BoardGame crowdfunding campaign this year is really asking a lot from their fans and customers. There are a few I would easily support any other year, but the lack of economic stability and the threat of insane tariffs is really make me pause. 
Update on the Greater Than Games situation: an official statement has been issued.
"Effective today, tabletop game publisher Greater Than Games has undergone a reduction in staff in response to ongoing economic pressures resulting from the international tariff crisis."
"Currently, all new projects are suspended as the global tariff situation remains volatile. [...] Goods in the current catalog will still be produced as needed. Updates will be made at a later date for customers who ordered upcoming products (crowdfunding, pre-orders)."
Looks like Greater Than Games—publisher of the board games Spirit Island, Sentinels of the Multiverse, and Compile—has been shuttered due to the tariff situation. While I've not played Compile, Spirit Island and Sentinels are the two games I play the most, so knowing that no further expansions will happen sucks.

Spring Break after-lunch #boardgame day 3. Air, Land, & Sea’s sequel Spies, Lies, & Supplies card game. I won 2 of 3 rounds; all had a great deal of uncertainty until the very end. Supply tokens add more depth to the existing gameplay. (I mentioned the game in an earlier #HobbyGamesRecce post.)

Had a nice round of patchwork doodle with the kids followed by two tense attempts to land a plane in mega busy Heathrow in sky team. The latter is a cooperative game where one person is the pilot the other the co-pilot, both responsible for flipping switches, regulating the speed and clearing planes to successfully land a plane via dice placement.
