I am currently testing some amazing #compressor, #amp simulation, and #eq #plugin (s) by a renowned vendor that previously did not support #linux.
It honestly feels unreal to me to have those outstanding plugins run perfectly smooth and natively within #bitwigstudio on #linuxaudio. 🫣
I expect an announcement within a couple of weeks, as the beta testing is still ongoing and minor bugs are fixed.
I am super excited about another vendor supporting this great platform for #musicproduction. 🤓😜

Dear #Podcasters,

PUH-LEEZE run a compressor filter on your audio before posting!

I see major podcasts with ads and everything where one speaker is very quiet, another is louder, and the ads are eardrum-shattering.

You can fix this with a *single* #ffmpeg command or #audacity filter, for goodness' sake! :P

The ffmpeg command for those who are curious:
ffmpeg -i audio.ogg -filter:a "speechnorm=e=50:r=0.0001:l=1" audio-normalized.ogg

I did it, I bought a used stereo compressor on ebay (Behringer MDX2600) for like $60, put that in between my television and the soundbar to reduce the dynamic range of the audio so I can hear dialog without having the loud scenes shaking the walls. My TV only outputs a digital signal, so I had to also buy a USB-powered DAC and some 1/4" to RCA cables. For a total cost of around $100, it works pretty good. Will probably improve with fine tuning of settings.
