I didn't fulfill my New Year's resolutions for 2024.
I didn't complete my #megadungeon for #dungeon24 . I'll still finish it, just not entirely within 2024.
I also didn't succeed in running a campaign. I ran a number of one-shots, but wasn't able to string continuity between any of them. I did play in a campaign, so it's not a complete loss.
I still want to run a campaign, so that's still a goal for 2025.

I went on an adventure in the Wieliczka Salt Mine today. It's basically a 9-level #megadungeon, but we only got to explore levels 1-3.
You start by going down 54 flights of stairs to a depth of 65m (level 1). According to the local rumour table, level 9 is 327m down.
#Dungeon corridors are standard 10' width. There are 287 Km of tunnels.
Everything is carved out of rock salt.
Habe vor Kurzem die zweite Session im selbstgebauten Megadungeon mit meinen Kollegen geleitet. Die erste Session lief eine Stunde länger als geplant, die zweite fast zwei Stunden. Ich würde sagen, das Format kommt gut an.
Den Megadungeon baue ich gemäß @kensanata Megadungeon Zine.
In dieser Session haben die SCs einen Elfenanführer aus Goblingefangenschaft befreit, nachdem sie die Elfen bei ihrem ersten Besuch ordentlich dezimiert hatten.

@mdhughes In my first #osr #megadungeon campaign, I kept a calendar. Due to training time for levelling up and a couple of other things, there were times when somebody wasn't available to go into the dungeon. For those times, the player might roll up a backup character, play a henchy, or the other players would agree to advance the timeline so that their character was available.

Yesterday, I ran a session of #ArdenVul (or Ardi Vuli as my 9 yr old kid refers to the #megadungeon) at our #Valravn #osr open table. The PCs walked right into a huge gallery of traps beneath the pyramid of Thoth, but miraculously survived by osr-ing the crap out of the situation. Well-played! I should be a neutral arbiter, but I’m also a huge fan of the cast of characters.

@juergen_hubert The problem with the megadungeon is very much the problem with travel in any context – the initial bits are cool, getting to where you want to go is cool, but the repetitive, tedious bits along the way in the middle are absolutely reprehensible after the first couple of times. Most systems make the process of exploration as painful as they can out of a desire for "realism."
Newsflash: Reality is often tedious and boring. That's why we're not out exploring caves and putting our lives in the line every moment we do so.
My own feeling is that you should run a #megadungeon in very much the same way you would exploring any sort of outdoor adventure; there are places that are safe enough to camp, there are places with interesting things to do, and then there's that smear of places in the middle that you resolve with just a couple of rolls, dispense with for color, and get on to what you really would rather be doing.

Gestern durfte ich wieder eine Runde in unserer #WestMarches inspirierten #Valland Kampagne leiten, was mir mit der Runde großen Spaß gemacht hat. Wir haben aktuell 3 SL und ich bin bei uns für das „Referat mythische Unterwelt“ zuständig. Ausgehend von dem Modul #IncandescentGrottoes (#OSE) zimmere ich mir dafür aktuell einen #Megadungeon zurecht. #Shadowdark Personage ist fragil (weniger fragil als bei B/X, aber wenige HP) und gestern musste die erste Figur ins Grass beißen. #osr #pnpde
