Check it out! Here's my presentation on rescuing the lost games made by Ya'akov Kirschen and Gesher for the Apple II. The talk was given at the Atlanta Historical Computing Society last fall.

I incorporated new things I learned during my research fellowship, exploring materials at Emory University and the Breman Museum.

New blog post! Mechanical keyboards are great, so why not add one to my battered CoCo1? I'll tell you why: it's fiddly! But it's also fun.

Please boost if you can, so your friends and casual acquaintances also know they can do silly projects like this whenever they want. No one can stop them.

Leaded Solder · Building my own mechanical keyboard for the CoCo 1Design and construction of a mechanical keyboard using Gateron key switches for the Tandy TRS-80 Color Computer Model 1, including bodges and mounting gaskets.

Oh well, I fnished the ZX81 plus 38 mainboard but it's *NOT* working.

I do not get any composite video signal out. There's not even a black screen!

I already followed all the hints in the manual:

I checked the logic ICs and they all get 5V from the power supply, as is expected.

The I checked the clock signal on the various ICs as recommended by the troubleshhoting section of the manual. I used my Hantek oscilloscope to check and the clock signal is active and can be measured at the ICs mentioned in the manual.

Anyone who finished this build successfully got a hint where to look next?!

I'm reconfiguring this old 486DX I have to boot off a nice, roomy 4GB SCSI drive instead of its IDE drive of questionable reliability.

I ended up simply copying the old IDE drive's contents to the SCSI drive, and I think I'll just disconnect the IDE drive and leave it inside.

I've been feeling nostalgic for some early '90s #msdos #retocomputing action...

#Introduction I'm a long time #Linux user who prefers the flexibility of #Gentoo.

My favorite #retocomputing platform is the #c64. I know some 6502 assembly language, but I'm not very good at it just yet. I'm trying to learn ca65 but find it intimidating. I was using tass but lost my patience with its quirks.

I'm an active Extra class #hamradio enthusiast currently learning #morsecode. I participate in local NTS traffic and #ARES nets in my area.
