Apercevoir un héron pourpré n'est pas si facile... surtout dans ma Sologne natale où le lobby de la chasse (que ce soit les grands propriétaires, les fédérations locales ou les domaines commerciaux) exercent une pression énorme sur le vivant. Entre les massacres d'animaux et l’artificialisation de portions gigantesques du territoires, il ne faut pas s'étonner que la faune déjà farouche devienne encore plus craintive de l'Homme. Quand elle est encore présente. L'ironie derrière ces deux photos de hérons pourprés, c'est qu'elles ont été prises dans une réserve naturelle, certes, mais une réserve gérée par la fédération de chasse pour se donner bonne presse. C'est terrible mais quand tout le territoire est fermée, on est bien obligé de faire avec le peu qu'on a, aussi hypocrite soit-il.

Spotting a purple heron isn't easy... especially in my native Sologne, where the hunting lobby (whether large landowners, local federations or commercial estates) exerts enormous pressure on living things. With the slaughter of animals and the artificialization of huge swathes of land, it's hardly surprising that the already fierce fauna is becoming even more fearful of man. When they are still around. The irony behind these two photos of purple herons is that they were taken in a nature reserve, of course, but a reserve managed by the hunting federation to give itself good press. It's terrible, but when the whole area is closed off, you have to make do with what little you have, however hypocritical it may be.

Am 23. Juni 2022 wird Hannes Wader 80 Jahre alt. Ich habe mir vorgenommen, bis zu seinem Geburtstag unter dem Motto „Liese liest...“ all seine Liedtexte aus seiner Feder als Gedichte einzulesen, als Verneigung vor der dichterischen Kraft seines Werkes und als Ausdruck meiner Dankbarkeit für all die Lieder, die mich seit vielen Jahren begleiten, ermutigt, aufgebaut und getröstet haben. Danke, Hannes!

My first visit of the year to Bowling Green Marsh #Exeter on the first dry morning for about ten years (well, alright a week). The light was good and there were some beautiful birds about and a Fox sunning itself. All in all, I saw thirty-three species in two hours. A good morning's work!
