Said goodbye to the Center City Macy's in the Wannamaker Building before it closed. The world's first department store is now filled w fixtures for sale and rando leftovers. Decades of memories for me alone. Luckily two escalators were still running. We bought a lovely old walnut office chair that could be 100 yrs old. Rubbed the Eagle's claw one last time. Whatever it will be it won’t be the same.

Too bad . . . as they say, it was an SF institution but I still lament the loss of The #Emporium more than I ever will Macy's.

At least I can still go to see The Emporium's "Rotunda" before they tear #Westfield down. After they tear Macy's down, who will care? 🤷‍♂️

Any one else here remember, The White House, City of Paris, Roos Atkins, Gumps, Joseph Magnin & I. Magnins? 🤔

Macy's is in fact now occupying the space that use to house I. Magnins. It's the building at the corner of Stockton & Geary across from Union Sq w/Macy's name on it.

Forget the name of the store that occupied the building next to it but the original Macy's was only originally located at the corner of Stockton O'Farrell before it "expanded" across the street into once what was another dept store (whose name I can't remember now) and then north towards Union Square.

That will be A LOT of retail footage that will go empty when they close the store. 🤦‍♂️
