Speaking of terminal emulators, #foot seems great, but unfortunately the lack of ligature support is a deal breaker

I haven't found the purpose/value of having any specific terminal emulator, but I've been experimenting with different ones.
The idea of Alacritty is appealing (written in Rust!) but I can't deal with this one issue:
What is up with Alacritty 's default color configuration and how do I make it normal?

WARP is a new Closed-source Terminal written in Rust with AI built in, and it functions a lot like an IDE, rather than a traditional terminal.
The link above contains a really impressive demo video. The features are too numerous to list here, I highly suggest you click through and read the article at OMGUbuntu and watch the video.
I just came across this wonderful article on the "very basics of a terminal emulator" (which also comes with exmple code written in C++) and I thought you might be interested in it as well:

#SymLink: The article introduces Warp as a powerful alternative to iTerm2, highlighting its unique features like modern editing capabilities, GUI for tab completion, visual appeal, speed, and integrated AI capabilities, and encourages developers to explore Warp for an improved coding experience. #WarpTerminal #iTerm2 #TerminalEmulator #DeveloperTools #

@RL_Dane @redgreen925 If you're using Wayland, Foot is a pretty good #terminalEmulator. It is incredibly fast to open. Like, if the daemon mode is on (and maybe when not), you're pressing Super+Enter (say) and your finger hasn't come off the Enter key yet and the window is already open.
Linux: Farbige Terminalausgabe in less
Damit die Terminalausgabe lesbar ist, verwende ich die Option "--color", aber es bleibt alles schwarz-weiß. Was muss ich machen, damit "less" funktioniert?

I switched from urxvt to kitty for better colour support. I have my doubts that terminal should have this many features, but oh well. Switching to xterm doesn't seem like a win, security-wise. Current annoyances: what is this term=xterm-kitty nonsense? Am I really supposed to update terminfo on every machine I login to? Probably there is a configuration that I was too lazy to look for...

#foot 1.10.3[^1] is out!
This release finishes the kitty keyboard protocol work that 1.10.2 started.
We also have a couple of crash fixes.
If you are using full-screen applications that makes use of OSC-8 URLs (for example, senpai[^2]), you *definitely* want to update...

#foot 1.8.2 is out
This release brings a couple of memory usage improvements, and fixes for memory leaks.
But (almost) more importantly, it has an improved renderer that handles "overflowing", or "bleeding" glyphs. This includes certain "wide" italic fonts, where the glyphs "lean" into the next cell, icon fonts, and legacy single-width emojis.
This supersedes the tweak.allow-overflowing-double.width-gyphs" hack.
#foot 1.8.0 is out
Highlights:
* Grapheme shaping (i.e. emoji sequences)
* XDG activation support ("urgency")
* -o,--override command line option to set/override foot.ini options
* Much improved performance of interactive window resize
* Tabs are now preserved when copying text
* Blend sixels emitted on top of each other
... and lots more: https://codeberg.org/dnkl/foot/releases/tag/1.8.0
The first #FootTerminal patch release in the 1.7.x series is out!
