In particular, the "schematics" idea, using a graph-paper-like grid to cast spells via symbols, felt a lot like a good way of implementing Brian Moriarty's original idea of a "gestural interface" for LOOM within 1990s-style game design. In 2008, there was allegedly released a fan-game successor of Day of the Tentacle called A Tentacle Hero! It was made by Mats Berglinn with AGS!
It's simple: if you are making a fan game project, just don't share it publicly until it's completely finished. I'm tired of seeing so many promising romhacks and fan games get this treatment. You can't trust any game company to support your endeavors, even Valve who has historically been pro-remix culture.
