Guest article by Dr. #Bernhard #Weßling: “#Origin of #coincidence, #complexity, #crises and #time”
The following guest article by Dr. Bernhard Weßling is not a “product of chance” this time, like his first guest article “What a coincidence!” published by me. This time it is about the consistent continuation and expansion of the 1st edition of his book of the same name, which has now been published as the 2nd edition with the subtitle “On the origin of unpredictability, complexity, crises and time”.
In it, Mr. Weßling expands on his previously explained, novel #concept of chance and complexity and examines the fundamental #cause of crises. To this end, he again uses the concept of #entropy to put it up for discussion as a criterion for #sustainability.
I would also like to put the #theses contained in his new book up for #discussion here on my #science blog. I am therefore looking forward to possible, even coincidental #resonances and - just like Dr. Weßling - look forward to numerous #comments. But first of all, here are the headlines to his thesis paper, which of course only represents an excerpt and cannot reflect the informative and argumentative depth of his book:
1. crisis as a #constant: Why #polycrises are not a novelty
2. chance, complexity and crises: The inseparable #connection
3. #Crisis management with #responsibility: sustainability as the key
4. entropy as a measure of sustainability: a new #perspective on #environmental protection
5. the #shadow sides of #CO2 technologies: Why #DAC and #CCS are not sustainable
6. #Natural #CO2 storage: #ecosystems as a solution for #climate and biodiversity
7. the #interplay of chance, complexity and entropy: a new look at the #worldorder
8. the #limits of #reductionism: why a #world formula does not exist
9. #Emergence and time: How #complex #systems and time itself emerge
10. the #human #perception of time and its separation from the essence of time
